How to Use the Blog Income Tracker

Takes 2 minutes at the end of every month. Here is the exact process:

1
Select the month you are logging
Choose the month from the dropdown. You can log current months or go back and fill in past months you may have missed.
2
Enter your earnings by source
Fill in how much you earned from each income stream that month β€” display ads (Mediavine, Ezoic, AdSense), affiliate commissions, digital products or courses, sponsorships, and anything else. Leave blank what you did not earn that month.
3
Add a note (optional but useful)
Notes like “launched new affiliate post” or “got first sponsorship” help you connect income spikes to the actions that caused them. Future you will thank you for this.
4
Hit Save Month and watch your chart grow
After two months of data the bar chart appears, showing your last 12 months of income at a glance. Your best month is always highlighted in orange.

💡 Tips for Growing Your Blog Income

  • Track from day one β€” even $3.47 in your first month is worth logging. Seeing growth from almost nothing to something real is incredibly motivating.
  • Focus on affiliate income first β€” it typically grows faster than display ads early on because you do not need massive traffic to earn commissions.
  • Compare income source percentages month to month β€” if affiliate income is growing and ads are flat, double down on affiliate content.
  • Use your notes column as a journal β€” note every action you took that month. Over time patterns emerge showing what actually moves the needle.
  • Set a monthly income goal and compare it against your average β€” if your average is $500, aim for $600 next month. Small targets compound fast.
  • Export your data at the end of every year β€” your annual income breakdown is incredibly useful for taxes and for planning next year’s content strategy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as display ad income?
Any earnings from ad networks placed on your blog β€” Mediavine, Ezoic, AdSense, Raptive, Monumetric, or any other network that pays you based on page views or ad clicks.
What goes in the Affiliate Income field?
Any commissions earned by recommending products or services β€” Amazon Associates, ShareASale, Impact, individual brand affiliate programs, anything where you get paid for a referral or sale.
Can I go back and log past months?
Yes. Select any past month from the date picker and log it. The income log sorts chronologically so your history always stays in order.
What if I need to edit a month I already logged?
Select the same month and click Save Month again. The tracker will ask if you want to replace the existing entry. Confirm and your updated figures will be saved.
Is this tracker only for bloggers?
No β€” it works for any content creator. YouTubers, newsletter writers, podcasters, and Instagram creators can all use it to track monthly revenue from their content. The income categories (ads, affiliate, products, sponsorships) apply to almost any creator business.
Can I use this for tax purposes?
This tracker is great for a high-level income overview but is not a replacement for proper accounting software. Use the Export feature at year-end to get a summary, then confirm exact figures with your payment dashboards (Mediavine, PayPal, etc.) before filing taxes.
